Knorr-Bremse acquires train control management specialist Selectron Systems AG

Knorr-Bremse has signed an agreement governing the acquisition of Selectron Systems AG of Lyss, Switzerland, on December 19, 2014. Through this acquisition, Knorr-Bremse is expanding its portfolio to include components and solutions for the automation of rail vehicles. Completion of the takeover remains subject to approval by the anti-trust authorities.
For many years now, Selectron Systems AG and its over 100 employees have been successfully developing advanced solutions for the automation, networking, and control of rail vehicles. State-of-the-art rail vehicles can only be realized with advanced control technology. Along with reliable and robust components at appropriate cost, enhanced safety standards are the decisive factor. The progressive rise in the volume of data exchanged by the various systems calls for higher data transmission bandwidths.
